Front Left wheel squeeks

When i turn right, my left wheel squeeks. If I hit the breaks while turning, squeak goes away. I got new rotors/pads last week, and that day or a few days after, this started happening. I replaced hub assembly 1 year ago.

Any ideas? If you say I need a new hub assembly, im gonna beat someone

i'm no expert but..
1..pads could be bedding in

2..cv joint needs greasing

3..check tracking /alignment

Did you have a shop do the brake work or was it done DIY? Quality of the rotors and pads have a lot to do with it and whether the job was done right. What brand rotors and pads were installed? Are the pads ceramic or semi-metallic? The pads should have a shim to reduce squeaking. Also during assembly the caliper pins should be lubed with hi-temp silicone grease.

Unless you are getting bearing noise or an ABS or Trac light you may not have to worry about another hub assembly.

Also, make sure the wheel lug nuts are torqued properly in a star pattern and to 100 ft-lbs.

I did the brakes myself. Now that you mention it, one of the caliper pins was stuck, and I had to work hard to get it free, then i used ordinary shop greese that I lube my sleds/tractors with. When I was finnished, the pin slid easily in and out. Im not sure the quality of the rotors/pads. I got them at autozone, both were under warrantee, if I recall, rotors would have been $40/each and pads were $20ish total.

Also, shortly after, my tire pressure light came on, and I cannot turn it off. My check engine light came on, as well as the abs and traction controll off, but after i shut the car off those 2 didn't come back on.

My CV joint is about a year old (i replaced it cuz the smarty at autozone said that would fix a problem i had, but it was actually a bad hub assembly he sold me). When i hit the brakes, the noise goes away, so i didn't think it would be this item, but im not sure.

How do you check tracking/alignment?

Yeah you've got to be careful with some stuff at Autozone especially the white box no name rotors and pads. Even the Value Craft or Duralast brands. I've had good luck with Raybestos PG rotors and ceramic pads although they cost more.

On alignment any place that sells tires will do a complete 4 wheel computer alignment which includes front and rear wheel tracking. But it will cost around $60 or more. Good luck!

hmmm, ok well i guess i'll just ignore the noise for now. I have my company logo on the side of the alero, and when i come screechin down the road, it does draw attention to the car, so I guess I should just leave it and smile at the on-lookers.

My brakes squeeked (squealed) after I replaced them as well. Couldnt see anything wrong or scraping. Decided to buy a brake hardware kit. About $20 (just three of the clips that hold the pads in place) That solved the problem and they are quiet as can be. Again, didnt look like they needed to be replaced but they indeed did need to be. Also, one of my calipor pins were stuck in place as well, had to heat it with a blow torch and a vice to free it. Used generic grease to lube up as well. What A pain that was!
