5-spd Shft knob

Someone has to know how to remove the original shifter knob(5-spd of course). I don't have to remove th boot do I? If I do I need to know all the steps. Iknow how to put my new one on, it's just getting this one off that's the trouble. Obviously it doesn't screw off, so don't tell me it just screws off.

You need to pop the shift-pattern plug thing out. Stick a small knife or something small and flat in between the black part and the pattern circle to pop it out. You'll see the nut underneath that piece. I think the nut was 7/16 or 1/2, about that size. Been years since I've taken mine off but that's how you do it.

That was easy enough, thanks man. Shifting feels and looks much nicer now.
My Airaid CIA also came in today and that was suprisingly easy to install as well.

What did you replace the knob with?

I've tried a few different knobs but I ended up putting it back to the stock lightbulb knob.

Re: 5-spd Shft knob

This knob is a temporary knob until I make my next big purchase from summit and use my summit bucks to get a leather one. I got it from Advance Auto Parts, and the way it connects is it had different sized adapters to fit all circumferences, it slides on top, and then you screw in three allen screws all around it to tighten it to your shifter. then there's a bottom piece that you slide on first, so once it's tight, you screw the bootom piece on.

It's just a round shifter, with fake Carbon fibery looking detail, but it's lighter and feeels better in my hand than that hunkajunk OE knob.
