2007 models to get new 6 speed auto (08 may get new V-6)

The 2007 G6 will get the new Hydra-Matic 6T70. This new transmission weighs 102 kilograms (wet).

The new Hydra-Matic GT70 and 6T75 were co-developed with Ford Motor Co.

Co-development of the transmission allowed it to reach production in less time and enabled each company to reduce development costs by as much as 50 percent.

A common on-axis design and many common components are shared between GM and Ford Motor Co. The controls, calibrations and operation of the transmissions are unique to each company.

The 2008 G6 may get a new V-6 engine with direct injection.

The 2007 G6 GTP will feature the 3.6 DOHC V6 and the 3.9 OHV will be featured as a step-up on the GT level.
