6x9 or 8" subs in rear deck

Which would you guys suggest 2 6x9s or 2 8" subs in the rear deck? If I got the 8s they'd have to be able to fit in a small fiberglass box or be able to work well in an open air set-up.

Keep in mind I already have 2 12" AA Assasins waiting to get installed.

Since you're putting two assassins in the trunk, I wouldn't put 8's in the rear deck. Especially open air. Maybe fiberglass some 6.5 comps in there? That would be my first choice over the 6x9's. Maybe you could put an 8' sub in the console or something.

if you already have 2 12" subs ... 8" subs would be pointless. I would use them as midbass drivers

or just not worry about it put a speaker grille there but not speaker, open up the hole asm uch as possible if you want, this will allow sound from the 12's to travle into the passenger compartment easier. you dont need rear speakers at all

Thats what I think I'll do. I know in my friends car the bass just doesn't sound clean. It's muffled when it gets to the front seats because it has to go through so much stuff.

Is that going in the talon in your siggie? I don't know much bout 2nd gen talons but I know first gens are fast backs (lift gate type of trunk). Meaning no trunk so you should have more bass if you don't have a trunk. But I dunno. You might have a sealed off trunk area away from the rest of your car.

Yeah the Talon was a fastback. I had a 91 and a 96. I just sold the 96 a month ago and now I've got an 87 Chrysler NewYorker. Just haven't got around to changing the sig yet.

Oh. Ok. Me and my girlfriend have the where'd the bass go problem in her car. I had a VR3 amp that was loud in my car and when we put it in her car no bass. That's a trunk for ya.

Re: 6x9 or 8" subs in rear deck

you will have to play around with the positioning of the speakers in the box, and finding ways for the bass to get into the cabin.
