engine wont start

i just put in a vz-14 cam in my 1600cc bug motor and it wont start cause it is suckin in air through the exhaust not blowing out can someone help with this one....

turn your distributor 180 degrees. tell me what happens after.

its not off 180 deg. i made sure of that.

i tryed just to see what it does and it just back fired. what does that mean.

well if it backfired then for sure its the wrong way now, put it back to the way you had it and about your problem ill ask a buddy and see what he says
