I did something stupid
This is probably going to sound stupid but I made a rookie mistake. I washed my car and was doing touch-ups. One in particular was by the lower molding of the driver side back window. Well needless to say, I used the brush that was in the touch up paint, I know, I should have known better. Anyway the thickness of the brush caused the touchup paint to fill in the gap between the car and the molding. My question is, obviously the molding will flex when driving the car and weather conditions and cause a hairline crack in the touch up paint but this won't hurt the good paint under the touch up will it? I am not really concerned about the look of it because you really have to be with in an inch of the car to see. I just don't want to damage the actual paint that is adhered to the car.

Re: I did something stupid
It wont' damage the car's original paint it will just make the touch up paint look like crap if you look close. As long as there was not already any rust or the paint peeling off where the touch up paint went nothing to worry about.

Re: I did something stupid
I wonder if I could use the "blob eliminator" to get the excess paint out of the area between the trim and the car? What do you think?

Re: I did something stupid
Sometimes with the touchup paint if it gets on plastic or rubber trim you can sort of peel it off and have most of it come off. If that doesn't work only other thing I would try is a very sharp razor blade and steady hand and follow the metal body panel and cut it out, as long as you don't tilt the blade and keep it level with the body it won't scratch it or cut into the paint any.
