PCV Value

Hello All,

I have a 2005 Ford Focus ZX4 SE. I'm doing the routine maintenance and I noticed to check the PCV value to have to take off the intake manifold. I looked at the procedure in my Haynes book and it looks like a surgeon’s job. Who decided to put a maintenance item that required removal of the manifold? Does anyone have a workaround?

Thanks

Re: PCV Value

Well, for about 10 bucks more you could order the whole oil separator asy (which includes the PCV) from the dealer and just change that. I don't know if it will really be THAT much easier to change, but if you have to go all the way with it...you might as well go all the way. MM.

Re: PCV Value

Anyone know another method to change the PCV value? I don't want to mess with the wiring harness. I heard there is an alternative method for the Zetec engines?

Thanks

Re: PCV Value

the PCV valve on zetecs are located behind the exhaust manifold. All you have to do is get underneith the car and reach up behind the manifold and pop it out, You don't have to remove the intake manifold or anything like that.

But, I thought 2004+ Focues came with duratecs instead of zetec?

Re: PCV Value

You are correct the duratecs have the PCV value in the Intake Mainfold. I was just asking if there is another way. I hate to mess with the wiring harness and having to break all those gaskets.

Thx

usually you only replace them when they need it, i replaced mine at ~125,000 on my zetec.

Re: PCV Value

Yea, pre98zetec is right. The PCV value gets gunked up after being stuck in the engine for a long time. I just bought the car last year and I'm looking at what work I can do on it and what work that I'm not skilled enough to do.
