I am lookinf into a new top for my 93 miata. The zipper on the current one is shot, what is the best type and plastic or glass, zip or zipperless?

Re: Miata top and back window

I've been considering an aftermarket top. I have been looking at tops sold at GoMiata (www.gomiata.com). They have several offerings, including replacement tops with glass instead of plastic. I'm also considering just having my back plastic replaced by a shop specializing in convertable tops. I too would be interested in other reader's experiences.

Re: Miata top and back window

I first replaced the plastic window on my 94. Ran about $200 for the window and $200 for the install. Unfortunately my original 11yo top got ripped soon afterwards so I had to replace the whole thing. Went with a Robbins cloth top with glass window a local club member had on sale for $500 on the frame (installed myself).

The glass window tops do not have zippers so you can't drop just the window on those brutal-hot summer days for extra airflow but I find them superior in most every other way. Only problem I've had is the top can be a bit balky going down right after being rained on. And the cloth gets dirty easier but mine is tan and I suppose with black tops it wouldn't be an issue.
