Thumbs down New problem... Clutch, maybe?

Hey all;
I'm driving to work today and I'm just cruising along. I'm starting from a stop and when I get to 4th, the shifter got rock solid and refused to go in. I'm there fusing with it and it wouldn't go all the way down. I then throw to neutral (this is going up hill, so I'm losing alot of speed), and I put to 5th. It was hard to put in.

I continue driving, and 1st - 3rd is fine. But 4 and 5, the stick gets hard and feels like it's in mud almost. I then ended up grinding into 3rd a couple times, and it felt like I had to push the clutch alittle farther.

Coming home, it was a little rough in 4 and 5, but not too bad. The clutch isn't harder/softer to push. Any ideas on what this can be? Also, I've still had the problem with when accerlating from a stop in first, the car shudders until I fully drop the clutch at times.

Thanks for the help!!

Re: New problem... Clutch, maybe?

How old is the clutch? Are you hard on the clutch (burnouts n shit)? I dont think its that, I think when the clutch is going, it grinds in all gears. I'm thinking syncros maybe? Next time you are driving, double clutch into 4th gear. IIRC, when double clutching the syncros arent being put to work at all so if they are bad, you will still go into gear. If you still cant get into gear, I would guess clutch.

Re: New problem... Clutch, maybe?

I'm not hard on it. I may shift quickly. I don't race that often and no burnouts or anything. The clutch is original. 93k miles on it. It's hard to explain. The shifter itself felt hard though while moving to 4 and 5.

Re: New problem... Clutch, maybe?

Yeah. I haven't had that problem again since then. I still have the shuttery starts, but I haven't been having problems shiting at all. Been smooth and sweet. IDK

Re: New problem... Clutch, maybe?

Did you hear any funny noises coming from it when you came to a stop or started going?

Re: New problem... Clutch, maybe?

The only funny noises when starting or stop is when the passenger side front axle pops. That's all.
