looking at a 1991 eclipse

ok my gf wants to get this 1991 eclipse for 700 bucks. it is a 1.8L engine that needs a intake manifold, and a radiator. it has a new tranny, new tires, new brakes.

my question is can we swap a 420a into this car?
how much would an intake manifold be?
is the DOHC head for a first gen interchangable on a 1.8L?
how much would a radiator be?

Re: looking at a 1991 eclipse

First of all, I think you need to search a little bit before you ask a question.

1) No, you cannot swap a 420a into the car. The 420a is the non-turbo that came in the 2g's and it would be the most un-worthwhile swap of all, a 1g non-turbo 2.0 would even be better than the 420a. Any swaps into that car would not be worth the cost and effort.

2 & 4) Car-part.com, ebay, dsmtuners.com classifieds. We cannot tell you how much these parts will cost because we don't know how good of a price-shopper you are. It would also depend on alot of other variables like new/used, where you're getting it from, etc. I would estimate soely an intake mani (no sensors or TB) for about $25-50 and a used radiator for $75 or so.

3) I'm pretty sure the heads are not compatible, therefore the swap would not be possible.

Re: looking at a 1991 eclipse

I'm not trying to be an ass, it just comes out that way, we get tons of people on here every day asking to do stupid swaps and what not when their question could have been answered with a simple 10 second search.

Anyways, the n/t 4g63 that you are referring to is the 1g 2.0 nt like I stated above. Althought it would be easier than swapping in a 420a (2g 2.0 nt), it still wouldn't be worthwhile. Your best bet would be to just get a 2.0 from the start, and probably turbo becaues if you're interested at all in cars you'll want to upgrade to a turbo within the next 3 months anyways.

And I wasn't going to give you a price in the first place, but my prices are about ballpark, hence the words "about" and "or so".
