Re: my get up and go has left
there are too many possibilities for this problem. i would have to watch sensor data with a scan tool to figure this one out.

Re: my get up and go has left
do u know anyone with a scantool that can obtain sensor data? popping from exhaust tells me there is a lean condition. check all your vacuum hoses.
check your fuel pressure. |

Re: my get up and go has left
any auto parts store should sell a fuel pressure gauge. on the fuel rail you should see a shrader valve. looks like a tire valve with a plastic cap on it. you screw the pressure gauge onto that valve and start your engine. tape the gauge to your windshield and drive the truck until this problem happens and note your fuel pressure when it happens.

Re: my get up and go has left
The valve is on the rear/driver's side of the intake, kind of a pain to get to. You might have the nutkit/fuelpressure regulator leak that is fairly common for those engines. Pop off the brake booster vacuum line and sniff. Is there a strong gas smell?

Re: my get up and go has left
I've solved a lot of 4.3 problems your describing by giving the mass airflow sensor a good cleaning with alcohol and a Q-tip after dis-assembly. They get a lot of crud build-up on the sensor wires and gives false readings.

Re: my get up and go has left
just be careful with that thing, its fragilie and very expencive, and anything from 96 on has a scfi not a cpi, cpi's are the ones that have nut kit problem, and 95 is the worst year

Re: my get up and go has left
I fugured that'd do it. With the money you'll be saving on fuel, you can buy tires!!
Like dmbrisket said, they break EASY and i think they're around $300 new

Re: my get up and go has left
300 is not new, its rebuilt, rebuilt is usually a little less then half of brand new, if new is even available (kinda like starters, they are all reman;s, unless you drop 8 bills at the dealers parts counter)

Re: my get up and go has left
You know what I meant! :-) No one buys parts from the stealership, unless you own a chrysler product...
