96 Tacoma starting problem
I just aquired a 96 4wd Tacoma with standard transmission. The truck starts right up when it's cold, but once it's warm, when you go to restart it, it stalls out. The only way to keep it running is to keep the engine revved for a bit. Then it will stay running and Idle. It kinda acts like it's vapor locked, but I'm only guessing. Any Ideas as to how to correct this? I also would like to find a FACTORY service manual for this truck. I found a thread in this forum for manuals, but it didn't list anything for a 1996. Anybody have one or knows of a source. Thanks

Re: 96 Tacoma starting problem
The Toyota Haynes repair manual has most of the repair information you need. It is available at most book chain stores, Amazon and usually they can be found on eBay. Here is one on eBay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hayne...QQcmdZViewItem The hot starting may be caused by gummed up fuel/air components. Here is a link that tells you how to clean the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and the throttle body. Down near the bottom you will find the MAF and throttle body cleaning information. http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/mainte...tenancep5.html Clifton |

Re: 96 Tacoma starting problem
Clifton: Thanks for the response and the link to the 4x4 wire site. It looks like I'll be using it more in the future.
