Gti(o)

I was driving home from work in my GTI and I noticed a GTO. I look at it and admire it w/o considering racing it. I come to the next red light and while I'm sitting there I see the GTO pull up next to me. I try to look away as I dont want him to think I want to race him. I try acting like I was looking for something in my cell phone when I hear him revving. I look over and it's some middle aged tool. The light turns green, I accelerate slower then I ever have in my entire life because I did not want this guy to think we were racing. He however, gets on it till about 40 then slows down. Once I get up to 40 he starts pacing me. Its at this point I realize that I have no choice but to atleast try to stand up for myself so I look at him, downshift, and go. I redlined it in 2nd because I knew the second I shifted, he'd be gone. So I press the clutch and go to shift but so does he, I get into third clean but he must have missed the gear when he went to shift. So I pull about 2 cars on him and then have to let up in traffic. My windows were down and he catches up and yells "in your dreams pal!", my response: "You're right, but it's a shame you have all that car and not enough driver." Then he says "That is a nice car though" and we go our seperate ways.

Now I'm not saying I could ever beat this car under different circumstances but this must have been the first time the guy was driving stick or something. He was so bad and he must have just gotten the car or something too because he didnt know how to really control it properly.

Good kill. From what I've heard people suck at driving goats. Musashi is still struggling with his, this guy in your story mis-shifted, and about a week and a half ago someone in this forum raced a GTO with an Impreza and won because the guy in the goat once agian mis-shifted. Is it really that hard to hit 3rd in on the GTO 6 speed?

Nice kill. I'm sure the guy just got it and wasn't used to the new gearbox, or just sucked in general. There was a really nice black GTO at a dealership in my town for the longest time. Unfortunately, some 50+ year old man bought it and will probably never take the car above 60MPH. What a waste of 400HP

do all standards like have no problem shifting to 3rd? cuz i was playing with this standard s10 and it locks from 1st, so i've never had a prob shifting to 3rd, or not all cars have that lock??
