94 grand am ignition switch

hay--
after driving for a coupla hours and cutting off engine, g' dam refused igntion, no crank, nothing. had the igntion switch replaced, no problems. drove from nc to nj, stopped, tried to start again--nothing. was able to start manually torquing starter while turning key. i can only assume it's the switch again, but is there something wrong with the electrical system that could be shorting out an ostensibly brand-new ignition switch? any help appreciated.
