I don't know if this is the right subforum or not, but this is just a plea for anyone who cares about animals or the pain of living things to help stop the brutal killing of baby seals in Canada that is going on right now. They are going to kill 300,000+ this year, most of whom are less than a couple months old. And many of which are alive when they are skinned. To all that help, thank you very much!

Maybe I will start a thread entitled "WHITE POWER", proceed to argue as to why slavery should be reinstituted, and then put "please dont argue with me about this topic" at the bottom...

Im all for saving animals, but in all honesty, posting this here is going to net you no valuable support. What you need to do is start up petitions that you can take to the Snow King that runs canadia or organize demonstrations, stuff that will actually garner awareness and support.

Well sorry, maybe I do take it a bit too seriously. But how exactly is it anything like starting a thread about racism??? I said don't start an argument because I have gotten a lot of shit when I posted this in other forums, and the thread was locked, without me even posted a second time. Saying something like "slavery should be reinstituted" has no moral or rational argument behind it. It is in fact wrong. Saying "please help defensless living things not be skinned alive" is a morally and rationally good thing. I realize there are other viewpoints on this topic, I just didn't want people to start yelling at me like they did before.

No, I will not protest outside an abortion clinic because I have no problem with *normal* abortion before a certain amount of time after conception. No one has actually figured out the true morality/rational truth about the abortion issue because it's clouded by religious dogma, emotional feelings, and misinformation.

If you really want to argue about the treatment/rights of animals I'd be glad to. But only if you don't say stuff like "they should die because I hate them and they're ugly," or "Go hug a tree you hippy!" lol.

As for the petitions, etc, it's all there in the link. I have a couple other links that I'll try and post.

well, i agree with Nayr747. the senseless killing is cruel. if they were being hunted solely by inuits that needed the meat for food to survive on then i'd think differently. but i can see where he's coming from. personally i think the killing for sport/fun/whatever needs to stop. like he said; they feel pain just like you do.

i'm proud to show my support in stopping the senseless killing. i really don't care what you think about that because it's my opinion, it's not going to change.

when they wanted to ban fox-hunting here in England i was in support of the ban, i don't think anyone has the right to go out with the sole intention of killing a creature without just reason. i was more than pleased when it was banned, and i still am.

for those of you who dont agree, let me put it this way.

if you were in the position of the parent animal, would you think "well, it's ok if everyone does it" if someone killed your child? would you think it's ok because it's tradition or something?

no one wants to see their children killed. we have no right to kill these animal so it must stop. not only is it posing risk to the seal's population numbers but it's also incredibly cruel and purely evil. if you think it's ok, or even support it there's something wrong with you.

I am opposed to the equating the life of child (or any other stage of human life) with that of an animal.

I'm opposed to skinning an animal alive as its much easier to do when its dead. For that reason alone, I think the claim of 'skinned alive' is used to just rile up people up.

Animals are useful as pets, labor and food. They are property and do not carry the same rights as humans.

I'm referring to the tendency for folks to jump up and down about killing baby seals, while at the same time, being unconcerned about the termination of a developing human life. Seems way out of balance to me.

A human life (at any stage) is immeasurably more valuable than that of a seal.

I have to differ from that. Not all animals are used for food. Seals are not considered sacraficeful food as in Lambs/Goats/Cows. Anything other than 3 is mentioned could be used as food only when theres nothing else around. From what I understand atleast. I could be wrong. According to my beliefs, we are not only humans but we are also considered Earth caretakers. We are responsible to take care of this planet and protect animals as well. Killing animals for game is totally unacceptable.
