Changing Spark Plugs
I have a monte carlo z34, 3.4 dohc. To change the rear 3 spark plugs, can you just rotate the engine forward, or do you have to remove the upper intake manifold? And also I was told that platinum spark plugs would ruin my coil packs, is that true?

Re: Changing Spark Plugs
You can rotate the engine forward. There is a special tool out and it the handiest ones out there. It is called a GM engine moving tool. Most tool truck dealers(Mac,Matco and Snap On sell the tool). The best spark plug to put in GMs are Ac Delco and GM's run better with Ac Delco.Stay away from Bosch,Champion and other brands.Change the fuel filter also and yes it is a part of a tune up.

Re: Changing Spark Plugs
Who said platinum plugs ruin coil packs? I say they're easier on them by transmitting the spark easier, resulting in lower secondary voltages...

Re: Changing Spark Plugs
It has a 3.4 get rid of it.Nothing but headaches. You ever change an altenator on a 3.4 goodluck.Platinum plugs are more conductive and therefore a better burn and more power.
