B16A.. from a SiR-I or SiR-II

Alright.. I have chosen the B16A for my CRX swap out.. I have done hours of research and that seems like the most reasonable choice to me ! Now I have looked online at different web sites and nticed that the B16A is different prices ($800+ USD) and I was wondering what the main differences were between the SiR-I B16A and the SiR-II B16A... any help would be apprciated ! I know the SiR-I is a cable clutch type.. not Hydro like the SiR-II.. so please help ! I want to do this the right way....

SiR and SiR II refers to trim levels, not generations. The Cable B16A has 160 PS, the JDM hyrdo B16A has 170 PS, the US hydro B16 has 158 HP.You want the cable B16A for a CRX.

You want the SIR-I instead of the SIR-II. First like he said you want the cable, Second the wiring would be too difficult to covert over since the first gen are obd0 and the second gens are obd1. Go with the first gen.

Diegoaccord is right with this. The EF9 (90-91) cars came out as a SiR and SiR II, followed by the EG SiR. To further confuse the issue, the XSi Integra also came out with the B16A at the same time as the Civic and CRX. Moppie has the details on the engine numbers and what they came out of.

Best bet if you want a cable clutch is to ensure that you get a motor with the Y1 (or Y2 if imported from Europe) tranny. That's the cable varient from the SiR I/II Ef9. If it is from the JDM EG Civic then it's the 170bhp engine with a hydraulic clutch setup.

Best bet? Specify you want the engine out of a EF8 CRX or EF9 Civic. I think the XSi 'teg also had a cable clutch - but I don't know. A friend who fitted this engine to his 3G Civic used the XSi Tranny - but he got the entire front-cut from the 'teg.

Yeah source the engine from either a CRX SiR EF8 or a Civic EF9, but Honda did also put the same motors in the Xsi Integra, and same with the gearbox. Both are identical to each other. I sugggest if you have the money try to get the Y1 gearbox w/ optional LSD for another 350. the S1 gearbox comes with the Xsi integra and it is also cable. They didn't change over to hydro gearboxes until 93 in Japan.

Oh, there is different gearing between the Y1 and S1 gearboxes - both are suitable, but the XSi S1 gearbox will not give you the same top end as the Y1 from the SiR.
