The passenger side windows (front door, and rear vent) in my 2000 Grand Voyager each have a problem. The front window is intermittent - we don't dare send it all the way down. The rear vent window is stuck, fortunately in the closed position. I replaced the master window switches at the driver's door. I took the passenger door panel off and lubricated what I could - everything mechanical seemed okay. It seemed to help the front window a little bit - it's acting a tiny bit better than before - still very unreliable. Should I invest in a new replacement window motor?
I cannot find where any of the window fuses are located. I was hoping that may be the trouble with the vent window - perhaps an easy fix. However, I read in the owner's manual that the "Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Windshield Washers and Engine Relays are fused with self resetting fuses that are only serviceable by an authorized dealer." Do I have to take it to a mechanic? Any practical tips out there would be greatly appreciated!

So far I haven't encountered a problem with the door windows in my 1998 Town & Country, so I really can't help you here.
I did, however, experience failure of both rear vent window motors, about six months apart. In my case, the motors didn't fail to work, they just stopped opening all the way. They would just open so far and stop. When I would push against each window slightly and have someone else operate the switch, they would both open all the way and close completely by themselves. But without manual assistance, they would not open all the way. I replaced both motors myself, at the same time. I posted the procedure in this forum previously, so search for it for more information. I suggest you try pushing on your rear vent window like I did and having someone else operate the switch to see if this is a partial or complete failure of the motor. Either way, you will need to replace the motor. Let us know what you find and what you do.

The rear vent window is easy to replace yourself, just don't be afraid to remove the trim, it goes back in easily. I also replaces the passenger side window motor regulator. I have the complete Chilton's instructions for removing glass and regulator (electric) and replacing same. It takes awhile, but you can save about $300 in labor if you doit yourself. You definitely need a new regulator for that window, it's a known weekness. Greg |
