help me

ok i have that 302 cobra engine in my mustang and when i start it it will run at a high rpm not sure of what rpm seening as i dont have a tech set up, it sounds like its running at like 2500 to 3000 rpm but when i try to turn the idle down it will just stall and die, thanks for the help.

You have something way, way, way wrong.

You are gonna be foolin around with this thing all summer long if you dont get the neccessary tools to tune it with. A tach is one of those tools.

Remind me again what carb you have on there? What is your timing set to? What is your complete fuel system? Did you ever get your rocker issue fixed? When you ask a technical question we need to know more then just your very basic problem. We need to know supporting mods, what exact peice it is you have a problem with, what you have tryed in order to fix it, & what you have to work with, ect ect ect.

ok its a edlbrock 600cfm carb, a Aeromotive SS Series Electric Fuel Pump #11203 and a Aeromotive A1000 Carbureted Bypass Fuel Regulator 13204, with 8 an fuel and return lines, the timeing is set to normal im pritty sure,

ok i think i might have found the problem, i was looking on the internet on the cobra 302 and there are a few different fire orders i guess, well i went with the 15426378 fireing order and wow does it sound a hole lot better i can gett it to idle at 1000 and there are no more pinging sounds and no more back fireing. but thanks any ways guys ill have pics soon to

When you set your final idle you need to pull it into gear (if auto). I'm probably gonna set my idle around 750-800rpms. To fine tune your idle adjust your idle mixture screws. You dont want them too far out though. You may have to buy a calibration kit from edelbrock to tune the carb, I know my friend did with his. He had a edelbrock 750cfm performer carb on a sbc.
