alternate remote hookup
ok.....i'm going to be installing an amp in my friends car.......can i connect the remote wire to somewhere else besides behind the head unit......he has the factory head unit so i don't want to pull it out. it seems like i could just connect it to something in the fuse panel.

yep, you sure can .... but be sure to hook a switch up to it as well. Any 12 volt source will do.

why would i need to hook up a switch? will it not turn on and off with the car?

yea, if you hook it up to a 12V line that is only active when the key is on

either a side of the fuse block, or pretty much anything that turns on when the car does .... just make sure you find the right wire.
