Motorcycle-USA '06 600 Super-Sports Shootout
Streetbike shootout results:
http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Articl...ID=3301&Page=1 However, their dyno figures are kinda strange, while Motorcycle.com is stating that new bikes are getting 106-111 horses, USA is claming 104-108 horses. It also seems the tank-empty weight is up or the same as previous years, the lightest bike (Triumph) is 390 pounds dry. So how is it that bikes are getting lighter every year? The figure sounds same since 600s from '99. Also looking at the torque figure of 675, it's not so far ahead of 4-cyls, in fact it and ZX-6R 636 are pretty close, only that 675 makes its peak torque 800 rpms earlier. While 749S as usual boasting most torque of the middleweights in broader range, torque figure similar to GSXR750. I remember the hype about how 675 even dwarfing 749's torque, as impressive as Speed Triple for a bike its size... BS. 6th Place - 749S (mostly because of its price tag and lack of creature comfort for street riding). 5th place - R6 (?? Are they serious? Yup, no torque down low, 2-strokey) 4th place - CBR600RR (Seems like proper place to be) 3rd place - ZX-6R (Apparently they had gripes about its handling despite strongest 4-cyls motor) 2nd place - GSXR600 (Little more torque down low than rest of the 599, as well as new trick bits on the bike). 1st place - 675 (The bike looks great... a Brit, and new kid on the block and matching HPs pitched its place, though I am doubtful if its significantly torquey for the street). ![]() ![]() ![]()
