balancer gone bad?

my balancer pulley is sliding out towards the radiator. It is to the point that the fan knicks it a little as it goes around. Does this mean i need a new harmonic balancer, or does the one i have need to be adjusted? If its just an adjustment, how do you do it?

Re: balancer gone bad?

the shop manual shows that it is just bolted on to the crankshaft with a large bolt and washer. If it has come lose, it could be creeping forward, just tighten it back up. If the steel part is coming apart from the rubber part, you will have to replace it , junk yard.

Re: balancer gone bad?

Dont mess around when it comes to the balancer. Replace it.

Not a pretty picture if it decides to separate.
