Oil pressure?

Whats a normal oil pressure for the LT1s? I see my oil pressure gauge spazzing out..it goes from 20-40 depending on what RPM my engine is..my 88 firebird used to always hover around 40-60..is that bad? is it cuz my oil = crap + filter = crap? (im meaning to change it in a few days... since i just bought the car). and if i am gonna change it, ive been hearing about 'royal purple' oil is that any good? what do you guys with the LT1's recommend?

I swithced to Royal Purple in my 3rd gen and I felt an immediate difference after the oil change. My buddy with a 2000 LS1 Camaro told me about it, and he swears by it.

Re: Oil pressure?

pressure sound normal enough to me...the factory dash gauge isnt particularly accurate anyway...so i wouldnt worry about it unless it falls below 20.
