2002 Malibu Ran Yesterday, Won't start today...Fuel Pump???

My 2002 Malibu ran yesterday no problems. Stopped at the gas station and filled it up the day before. Drove it home and parked it in the garage.

Walk out this morning and it won't start. The engine turns "starter is good" plenty of battery power to turn the motor. The only thing I can think is the fuel pump maybe?

Anybody have any suggestions? Is this a common problem?

By the way, I have read about the A/C controls switching on and off and being weird. Mine does the same...just wiggle the fan switch and it seems to start working again.

I drove to LA and back - 3,000 miles - and 20 miles from the house the fuel pump went out on my GM (not a Malibu). Anyways check to see if you hear the fuel pump humming. It could be a fuse, a relay or the pump. If you hear the hum when you turn on the key - probably not the pump.

Well, its not the fuel pump. I detached the fuel line from the fuel filter and had my wife turn the key. Fuel spit out all over me. So what else could it be?

Distributor? Does anybody know of a good place for some info on ignition systems / distributor?

No its a V6. Its not the ignition system. The fuel pump is working but I am not sure if the pressure is right.

Does anybody know how to check the pressure of the fuel system?

If this is not it what else? Could the injectors be gumming up? Could something like that happen in an instant?

I had the same problem last week. It ended up being the ignition lock cylinder. The anti theft system wouldn't allow fuel to the fuel pump. Cranked fine and plenty of power. Replaced igition lock cylinder works fine.

Check the fuel pump relay mine did the same exact thing about six months ago. get it from the the parts house for 15 - 20 $$. You also said your a/c was acting up. Mine switches from inside to outside air on its own. It did it before twice while it was under warranty, it in and they fixed it but never told me what it was. Where is the fan switch you talked about?
