What do you use to hold your sockets?

I'm starting to build up a basic tools kit for myself. I just got one of those Craftsman mechanic's tool set kits and now I have a bunch of sockets and I'm not sure what to do with them. What would you recommend to hold them? I want to put most of them into my tool box (it has 4 drawers and a larger storage area on top). What do you personally use?

you can get tool chests with "cut-outs" made to fit the trays and hold all the tools. i just have all the socket sets in their original cases and such.

Re: What do you use to hold your sockets?

I use something like this for my wrenches:

And one of these for my sockets only the craftsman one:

I couldn't find a pic of the Craftsman socket holder but it looks like the one in the pics but with a handle on one end. I got 2 for like 5 bucks or something like that at the Sears store.

Re: What do you use to hold your sockets?

Some of my sockets are still in their original cases they came in, and my "extra" sockets are kept on a metal bar with holders like the one featured in Andydg's thread. I like those metal bars because they are portable to wherever you are working and when you are through you can place them neatly in your tool box. It's amazing how many sockets one can accumulate over a 25 year period.

That one holds them on ok? I was worried that that one may not hold them on tight enough. But the price of those is definitely attractive.

you can get those 4 for a dollar at harbor freight tools, and they hold fine. Much better buy than sears.

We might wanna use locking extension. because after you tight the spark plugs, socket tend to suck there and when you pull it out, socket stays there. my friend got sooo pissed when this happend to him hahaha. i let me use my locking one.

Re: What do you use to hold your sockets?

This is good enough and what my brother uses in his business:

That reminds me, one time I called upon an emergency locksmith in Barkingside (near where I live) to help me get into my car where I had left the car keys in - doh!, when they arrived they had this huge tool kit which opened up like a peacock. I must say those guys are definite professionals because at any given time of the day they are on call and would probably have to use any of those tools at any given time so 1+ to them for keeping everything in order. With regards to them getting my keys out of my car - took them 10mins to arrive, 15mins to get my keys so in 25mins all was well, I will definitely use them again.

Just search toolboxes on google and click on images to see all the types of toolboxes there are these days!
