S10 Top Speeds

Just curious here as to what you all have your STOCK S10's top speed estimated at. I'm just asking for the motor type, mileage, tranny, and year.

1991; 2.5L 4cyl 'A' motor "Iron Duke"; 163,000; RWD Tranny with OD.
Speedometer buries at 85, I've been on the tail of someone doing 100mph and the motor wasn't even running high RPMS. Fastest I've had it thus far.

Re: S10 Top Speeds

I ought to mention mine was just recently tuned up with new plugs and wires, Dist Cap, Coil, Fuel pump/Filter, air filter, oil change and a few new sensors. Plus I run Mid-Grade instead of Regular-Grade fuel, she runs a little sweeter

Re: S10 Top Speeds

Fast enough to get me a ticket, yet it's still slow enough where I haven't gotten any yet.

My 85 2.8L Blazer 4x4 is actually reving pretty good at 60, so I don't want to take it any faster (4.10 gears, auto with overdrive)

Re: S10 Top Speeds

Ummm faster than the tires are rated for and faster than I'll go in that thing again.

89 S-10 4.3L 4x4 Ext Cab
~120mph sustained speed over 1mile

*edit* The fastest I'll take it now is about 10 over the speed limit

Re: S10 Top Speeds

when the 4.3 was in mine, it would rack up to 100 in 3rd then shut off, now, with the small block in it, it will rack 100, in third, much quicker

Re: S10 Top Speeds

My 4.3 '97 S-10 is modified now, but even when it was stock, I buried the speedo and had plenty left. 4L60E tranny, 3.?? rear end. I think that they are governed at around 95 or so, though from what I have heard.

Re: S10 Top Speeds

I had a 92 S-10, 5 speed, 2.8L, only thing it had was straight pipes. My friend was behind me in his 3.8L camaro and he said we were going 107 before we had to slow down and the truck still had a little left.
