1998 MercSable Brake Lights Problem

Hello,

I have a 1998 Mercury Sable. The brake lights will not come on. The R/L blinkers work. The Reverse lights work. The upper brake light in the window works.
We changed the fuse for the tail lights, the brake lights still will not work.
Any idea's on what may be causing this problem, or what kind of fix may be in order?

Thank you

Re: 1998 MercSable Brake Lights Problem

Did you replace the fuse for the tail lights or the brake lights? Have you checked the bulbs to make sure they are good and not corroded? The bulbs have two elements and therefore it is possible to have tail lights and not brake lights. Use a test light to see if current is going through the fuse. Use a test light to see if you have power at the socket when the brake pedal is depressed. Make sure the sockets are properly grounded.
