Question 1999 ZX2 Engine Replacement

My 99 ZX2 needs an engine. I located an inexpensive engine ($300) from a 2001 with 66K - however, this forum indicates slight differences between pre and post '99.5. Does anyone know when in 1999 that the actual manufacturing change was made? The manufacture date on my car is June 1999.

I found a post from 2/6/06 with a reply from AltecZX2 that says
the 98-99.5 is a 4wire mass air flow sensor
the 99.5+ is a 6wire MAF
Is this the only change from pre '99.5? Thanks ahead of time for your input.

Re: 1999 ZX2 Engine Replacement

thats the only change, HOWEVER, if you put in the 01 motor it will go MUCH easier if you use the intire 98 intake.....that way you dont have to worry about the electronics.
