replace A/C compressor idler bearings?
when car is running 1995 century and ac is not on, compressor makes a loud bearing noise, but when ac is engaged(turned on) the noise goes away. I think I can see some metal slivers around the clutch area. Is it possible to replace the bearings on the idler part without losing the freon. I am pretty handy, but don't have any special ac clutch tools.

Re: replace A/C compressor idler bearings?
Your AC comp has to have the correct air gap between the idler and the clutch. Without the clutch hits the pulley and makes your noise.
There is a tool to pull off the clutch and pulley. Might find it at some parts stores. Mine I got it off the Snap-on truck.
