help w/ mods

I just recently got a 00 integra ls , everything stock . Looking to make some good changes in it. The first thing i want to do is make some modifications in performance. I dont know much about cars as much as most people on these sites but im trying to do my research. Can i get some input on what i hsould do first to slowly upgrade my car? So far i have heard to get an air intake, headers, and turbo if i can, but also heard i should switch my engine for a vtec or upgrade to vtec. Can someone give me some advice.

Re: help w/ mods

ok first of all please don't buy an AEM cold air intake. besides the fact that it sounds a lil better than ur average intake but its not 200$ better i don't know the exact price but its gonna be up around 200 which is rediculous. It will boost your HP around 3-6 i wouldn't say ebay it but get something cheaper as far as the other advice i'd say its pretty good.

Re: help w/ mods

i differ that. an AEM intake is only 250 dollers and it comes with a K&N air filter witch you do not have to change at all in your life. so you will actually be saving money

B18B bottom with a B18C head makes some power. thats called the frankenstein motor. or you can just get a b18c Gs-R motor. i would def do the LS block with VTEC head. less money and could be more power. thats just my advice heres some things to do to your engine some simple bolt ons some not.

1st thing do an AEM intake
2nd thing Exhaust
3rd Headers
4th Adjustable Cam gears
5th Cams
6th if you got a nice engine and want some big power. do some Nitrous
do some tires. brakes. then you can do suspension. control arms. coilovers. then if you want some major power throw a turbo on. adjust the fuel pressure. fuck with the ignition a little. MSD perfered. do a larger shot of nitrous. if you dont want forced induction do high compression pistons. beef up the botton end. polish and port the head. BTW a turbo is 10 times better than a supercharger here are some turbo specs for you

Compressor Trim and housing A/R - T3,60-62 trim, 0.69 housing
Turbine - T25, 79 Trim or 73,69 trim
Exhaust Housing A/R - T25:0.63-0.86,T3:0.63-0.82
Strong Boost - 3,000-4,000 RPM
Aprox Power you can gain - 180-300 hp

theres thing that i missed thats just things that i thought up quick. if you want my help ill get you a full list of EVERYTHING and ANYTHING you can do to your B18B engine. if you want to do a TURBO copy these specs and bring it to your local performance shop and you can be on your way to some serious power

Re: help w/ mods

Rob has the right idea...just don't listen to his brand name choices.
1. Intake
2. Exhaust
3. Headers
4. Adjustable cams gears
5. High lift cams

After that you get into pulling the motor appart and from the sound of your first post it doesn't sound like you're looking to that point, at least not yet. Don't go with a gsr motor, you already have the LS just build an LS/Vtec combo. Better low end torque, and you still have the vtec kick. Find a gsr or type r head and build the beast. Figure out what you want to do first though, or at least before you go drop cash for headers and cams because if you get a different head then that stuff wont be useable and you'll just end up throwing away your money.

Re: help w/ mods

thanks for the help, ill work on the first couple of mods. yea i read about the ls/vtec, but didnt kno if it was good or what. but it does sound liek a good idea. so for my engine, it b a good idea just keep the engine, and get different headers ? and that would make it a ls/vtec correct?

my first mods on my 99 GSR were as follows:

1. HP Racing intake manifold
2. Exedy 3pk clutch and ACT 11lb fly
3. boost the shit out of it....parts list in my sig

I would recommend boost....its fun!
