Hi All,
I own a Peugeot 306 XT 1.6 multipoint I motor 1993. But there's something strange going on. While steering to the left and right in a certain angle, there is a ticking noise, similar to worn out drive shaft. The garage already renewed both drive shafts twice, with no success. Does anyone know what may cause this problem? Thx in advance :jump: |

i should be able to help you here cos my dad spent nearly thirty years working as a mechanic for Peugeot. You're problem is most likely to be the constant velocity joint. This lets the driveshafts move when you turn the wheel.

CV part of drives shaft?
Thx,
But are the CV's not part of the drive shafs? There did replace the driver shafs twice with no success. The ticking while steering is still there... Can you help to solve this puzzel? Thx :bandit: |

the CV's are connected to the end of the driveshafts, so they is a slight possibility that they did. but franchised garages will always cut corners so if u asked for a driveshaft i doubt you will have got anymore than just driveshafts.

Still ticking while steering...
Well here it comes:
They did change the driver shafts (inc CV joints) twice. The mechanic had the history of the car on file, and learned that the driver shafts (inc CV joints) where reinstalled last year in another garage. The reason was the same ticking noise... He told me "well, The sound is very much like a driver shaft, but that’s not it"... (and the CV joints are not the problem either).... Does anyone know what it could be? The garage by the way is a real Peugeot Garage! So was the garage that replaced the driver shafts in the first place. Ok tell me does anyone knows what 2 real Peugeot garages don't know? Thx a lot for all the help I can get....: |

right, i asked my dad again and told him what you told me, so he says that their is a small chance then that it COULD be the brake calipers rattling if they are worn out and/or worn down.
if thats not the case then you have the equivalent of 3 Peugeot garages who cant find the answer!

Ticking is gone while steering
Hi here my reply,
After 2 weeks i got my car back, and the ticking was gone!!!! This is what they said: There was still a problem with the drivershafts!!!, can you belief that, i don't anyway. They reinstalled the drivershafts 3 times and the ticking was still there, now it's gone and the problem where the "drivershafts"........ Anyway there is still a little tick while driving straight ahead but thats not a problem aslong it does not get worse.... Keep on driving and CU around!!!! :frog: |
