MPG difference

Right now i have a '92 318 dakota...which doesnt get the greatest MPG, and i was wondering what the MPG is on any of the late 80's to early 90's 3.9L engines. Im wondering because if theres a big enough difference ill get a 3.9L truck for when i begin to attend college and store my 318 truck.
Thanks.

Re: MPG difference

I've got a 3.9 but it's a 99. I don't know how much this will help you, but I get anywhere from 15-18 mpg city driving (depends how much I race that week), but usually I drive like a grandma and get 18, and one time I got 19. Just trying to help.

Re: MPG difference

Oh yeah! I fill up with premium high octane though, which does get better mileage. I aslo have a 5-spd and ride the clutch way before stop signs and red lights (my engine is Idle 600-700 rpm A Lot).

Re: MPG difference

I would park the 318 truck and get a cheap car for going to school.

Re: MPG difference

Actually you can look up all registered Gas Mileage charts at

http://www.fueleconomy.gov

http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymake/Dodge1992.shtml

Believe it or not..you wont get but 1-2 mpg better out of a 3.9L but you loose a ton in towing

Now the dodge colt (pregnant rollerskate) get a whopping 35MPG Highway..just dont wreck or they bury you car and all!

Just make sure you keep your tires inflated and all that
