Trailblazer dying while driving

I have been having problems for the last few weeks with my vehicle dying while driving. This is an intermittent problem. First time I figured my battery was at the end of its cycle but did not solve problem. When running the car dies, guages bounce back and forth, lights will not go off, door dinger starts ringing. After I coast to a stop and try and restart it normally rolls the starter for just a second and stops. No clicking or anything after retrying. After a few minutes it has always restarted with no apparent problems and gets where I am going. I have checked the grounds and was told the BCM may be the problem. Any others having this problem? Also no codes register.
Thanks

Re: Trailblazer dying while driving

What type of voltage readings are you getting across the battery leads on an idling truck? You need to see ~14VDC at idle. If you dip below 12VDC these trucks will not run at all. You cant go by the dash gauge for accurate readings.

The alternator is putting out a steady 14 volts.

Hmmm.. well that shoots that in the foot. I wonder if you've got the funky ignition switch thing going on?!? That can produce the symptoms you have. One of the things you dont want to do with these 'hi-quality' ignitions is dangle heavy keychains from them.

My daughter has been having this problem since she bought her new 2002 Trailblazer. It never shows a code so they say they can't fix it. Yesterday she had a different electrical problem. The AC stopped blowing cool air, she was near home and proceeded there. When she turned off the ignition, the AC fan continued to blow. Even after she took the key from the ignition, the AC fan ( not engine fan) continued to blow. She reinserted the key in an attempt to turn it off. Wouldn't turn off and locked her key in place.Ran her battery down quickly. She then got a jump start, removed the key and pulled fuses to stop the fan. Today she took it to the dealer and of course they couldn't find a code, so couldn't fix it. It appears to be functioning correctly for the time being.
Interesting concept about the keys, however she only has the car key, house key and keyless entry pad on a plain key ring.
Anyone have any ideas? Naturally the dozen or so times that it has malfunctioned has never been during regular dealership hours, which they assure her they could get a code if it wasn't restarted.
