Thumbs up Help Wanted-Clutch

Anyone have experience with replacing a clutch, my dad has done it before in a volvo, but says it is a lot of work, anyone have a comprehensive guide or online website, which has step by step procedures for installing one. I have a 2001 Eclipse Spyder GT and my clutch is capable but it catches on the high-end of my liking. I would like to replace it with a stage one, hopefully to insure a slower wear on it. Or is the current clutch adjustable? Do i need to do anything different to accomodate a stage one clutch, preferably one from: http://tearstone.com/shop/index.php?...emart&Itemid=2
i am handy with a wrench, i have time, and the space to perform the job, i just need to know some tips and which clutch would be best for my application.

Re: Help Wanted-Clutch

a "stage one" clutch is basically a stock replacement. i got mine from daiken on ebay for 180$ or so. As far as replacing it goes, it would be helpful to obtain a factory service manual before attempting it, because even the transmission place i took it to couldn't figure it out to have it done within a day.

That is the total truth there. I have a Centerforce Stage 2 clutch and the place I took it to couldn't figure it out within the time allowed for the job and it ended up taking 2 days. I really didn't want to replace mine with something that compared to a stock clutch so I went with the Stage 2. I have absolutly no complaints with it and I love it. It does feel a little different then the stock one as it is a little touchy at times. It has taken me a while to get used to it but now that I am, its very nice. I would also recommend changing the flywheel since you will have all that out anyways. Make sure you change your TOB as well.

Re: Help Wanted-Clutch

throw out bearing, it should have been covered in one of the "stickies" at the top of this forum
