Dude dont start a new thread about the same thing. Just say something in the old one and it will bump it up.

About the light.... replace the switch on the door jam. They are only like $10. I dont know how easy or hard they are to get to but that would more than likely solve it. The switch is a little black push in style switch on the front side of the door seal on the body side. You can even test the switch by pushing on the switch while only that door is open. If it goes off then its the switch. If it doesnt I dont care how much WD-40 you put on it it wont fix it.

Re: 97 ford t bird door ajar lights stays lit

intrcptrbird- The switch you are talking about is the courtesy light switch. The door ajar switch is located at the door latch. The door panel will have to be removed to get to it. There are two switches on the drivers door latch. The bottom one is the door ajar switch and should have a dark blue wire going to it. Remove the connector from the switch and see if the door ajar light goes off. The other switch is the door latch switch and will have a white/light blue stripe wire going to it. It's used for the remote/keyless entry system and is of no concern with your problem. The passenger side door also has a door ajar switch on it's latch and will have a red wire going to it. There is no latch switch on this door. The door ajar switches are closed when the doors are open thereby creating a path to ground for the door ajar circuit. Check my post in the tech help thread to find where to get a shop and electrical manual for your car. They are cheaper then paying someone to fix your problem and will give you all the info you need. Before you tear the doors apart, are you sure both doors are shut tight? Moving the door striker out a little bit would be the easiest thing to try first.
