A Myriad of Questions.

I'm not quite sure what this thing is called, but can it be removed? Is it merely glued on like the Chevy symbols are?

Secondly, what are the chances of finding very many '02s with a 2.2 and 5 speed transmission? I know there are a few.

Third, wasn't there a few years when a 'hatchback' cavalier was in production? If so, from what year to year?

Re: A Myriad of Questions.

1 - The line itself can be, I do believe it uses double sided tape to stick there. The rest of the bump is body structure.

2 - Look hard, they're out there. Real question is are you looking for a 2.2 OHV or a 2.2 Ecotec, b/c they used both in 02, 02 was 2.2 OHV, 02 1/2 was 2.2 Ecotec.

3 - 86 and 87 for sure, not quite sure about other years. Google it.

Re: A Myriad of Questions.

yes the door strikes/ side moldings can be removed. A hair dryer and some 20lb test fishing line will work. If the car is older be prepaired to deal with faded paint issues. I had a body shop wet sand my area down after i remove the ones off my car. You will also need some goo-gone to remove the left over sticky crap. But the turn out is soo much better lookin that with them on. Also makes waxing the car a 100x easier.

Allovercoma covered the rest of your question.

Re: A Myriad of Questions.

Actually for double-sided tape I found that, while goo-gone works okay, rubbing alcohol will melt the adhesive off must easier. Just make sure to wipe it clean with soap and water, then give the area a wax when you're done.

Re: A Myriad of Questions.

Hey thanks. I figured it was. Speaking of sticky things, what would be an easy way to remove auto-dealer stickers? Peanut butter?

Anyways, about the 2.2, I am very interested in finding an Ecotec with the 5 speed. Should you find one, please post a link or picture.

Thanks again.

Re: A Myriad of Questions.

auto dealer stickers are most of the time just vynal, same thing with factory pin striping. I used my fingernail on a warm day and it all just peeled right off with some time. Or when you purchase the car, tell them to take that crap off and save you time. When my mom bought her neon R/T i told them to take all the shit off including their name.. I told them we wouldn't purchase the car unless they did since it would be free advertising, or pay us to drive the car around with their name on it. There are ways to beat around the bush with dealerships.

Re: A Myriad of Questions.

haha tha is a good one, I ripped the dealership advertising crap off the first time I washed it. I'm waiting until I have the money to repaint my cavy before I rip off those side strips and the chevy emblems. I don't hate chev I just want a clean looking car .
