I need a car

Hello I am in the process of shopping for a used car. I am looking to spend between 2000 and 5000 dollars. but I want a car that is 2 door 4 cyl, sporty and fun to drive.

I currently own a 1994 car, which needs to be replaced by something that has less than 228000 miles on it and is newer, that I can trust on the highway for a few hour trip.

Thanks
KRis

Re: I need a car

civic or integra but if your looking for something to have some fun with get an eclipse older body style 93-99 but just check it out first b/c those cars have been known to be unreliable if not taken care of...honda engines however have been known to last a long time if taken care of

Re: I need a car

What about a Honda Prelude? More power than a Civic but the fuel economy is not bad. Or a Toyota Celica.

Re: I need a car

No, get a 95 or newer Sunfire GT or Cavalier Z24. For $5000 you should even be able to get a 2000 or 2001 one and they are nice, come standard with power sunroof, fog lights, 6 or 8 speakers, and aluminum wheels. They have something jap crap doesn't: torque!! The 2.4 twincam produces 155 lb ft of torque, and on a 2600 pound car 150 hp and 155 lb/ft of torque really moves.

Re: I need a car

FYI Tonto - a 1992-1996 Prelude Si 2.3L has more torque than a Sunfire GT 2.4L (160 lb-ft vs. 155 lb-ft). And so does the range topping 1993-1996 2.2L VTEC.

And give up the whole Sunfire thing. They're crap. They've had 14 recalls in 10 years, they've been rated as Below Average in Consumer Reports, and they're riding on a platform that was introduced in 1982. I could keep going!

Re: I need a car

thanks for all the imput keep it coming, Just so everyone knows, I am not looking at a GM vehical, No reason imparticular, other than, i have driven nothing but GM vehicals all my life, and they don't offer one know that I can afford that would be fun to drive.

THanks again, and keep the advice coming. I like the Pralude, and the civic, but the civic and pralude have held their resale value, which makes it hard to find one new enough for under 5000. I was looking at Hundai accent. I can get a 2002 with 50000 miles for around 3k.

Well
Got to go,
thanks
