disconnect ABS?

My 95 Windstar has the common ABS "kick-in" as I come to a stop. From previous posts, I understand I should clean off the toothed ring on the rear brakes. However, I can't take care of it right now. So, in the interim, I disconnected the wiring harness from the ABS unit. Is there a problem with this, besides making the ABS feature inoperable?

Re: disconnect ABS?

My guess is . . . no.

1. Wear a seatbelt and put on a football helmet.
2. Get the van up to 25 mph.
3. Stomp on the brake pedel.
4. SCReeeeCH means GOOD! (ABS off / brakes OK)

Hello

When you get around to fixing the ABS, along with cleaning, moving the sensor closer to the ring, also the rear wheel bearings are repackable on the 95 (at least they were on mine). If there is slack in the bearings, the ring will be a different distance from the sensor at times.
