piddling around with stupid ideas
by now every one has heard of the v8 swap for the ford focus. i wonder if there are any out there for the zx2, like conversion to rear drive. with all honesty i think a huge engine would kinda be fun. i was joking around with a friend saying it would be funny if i could drop this 429 out of a 72 somthin or other into the zx2, granted this would never happen , and probibly cost at least 2x as much as i paid for the car... but it would still be cool.

Re: piddling around with stupid ideas
i know... if it is anything like what i saw on that focus project on SCR on speed, damn. i dont evern really belive it is physically possible... i think the motor is way too wide... ild have a foot long driveshaft, and have to sit in the back with the c6 trans. but as i said all it is is piddling around with stupid ideas. i cant help but think that it would be totally wicked to do. maybe one day when i become rich and famous, or at least have all the tools and too much time on my hands.

Re: piddling around with stupid ideas
i suppose thats more practical... i wonder how bad a swap that would be.
it would have to have a clutch pedal (if hydraulic a reservuair) a different trans (the manual) a computer out of a stick zx2 would be nice. and all the button ups that im too scared to get into. but for all the trouble i could just go out and buy a stick zx2 and not have to worry about tuning difficulty. which is actually my plan. but i dont got that kind of cash and im not selling my cougar or my zx2 to get a stick. i just want a blue, black, or mandrin orange '03 with a stick, but i cant find one for less then 7 grand... i suppose ill have to continue to wait.

Re: piddling around with stupid ideas
use stock atx computer, people swap in mtx and have issue's.
there's a ATX>MTX swap tutorial on teamzx2 but I can't get it to load.

Re: piddling around with stupid ideas
i wonder why that is? yould figure as long as the computer has all its hook ups it shouldnt matter on the electronic end.

Re: piddling around with stupid ideas
351w is a 5.8L new cobras (03-04? are you talking about) had 281s (4.6L), if your talking about the new-new ones (i think those have 331's- 5.4L)

Re: piddling around with stupid ideas
...my bad its actually a little older then what i thought.... the most recent with the 351 was the saleen (not cobra... to correct myself) in 95. i could have swore though that it stayed until about 99 when the svt took over.

Re: piddling around with stupid ideas
it really depends.. personally i cant tell online... but ive noticed alot of modern tuners are more knowledgeable in injection in its various degrees. the older guys know more about carbs... but they are much less precise... and its hard to set certain things because ussually the inner cylinders run rich, outers lean. ect ect
