88 5.0 gt hard hard to put clutch and shift

my cousin has a 1988 mustang 5.0 gt manual trans.and it is hard hard hard haard as hell to put the car in gear.its like some one is pushing the other way when u try and shift.and its all gears.and the clutch is the same hard as hell to push the clutch in.and when u sit at a light its almost a work out holding the clutch in it so hard.any one ever have this problem or know hwat it could be.the guy he brought it off of clames he put a new trans in it.but i dn,

I had the same problems a few years back. I remember that I had an aftermarkert quadrant and cable and it broke both of them in half. The problem was the clutch fork and the ball the fork sits in inside the bellhousing. They were worn out so bad that it was almost square and not round. I had to replace both pieces. Get with D&D transmisson and you can get it there. Hope this helps

Yeah i have that same problem right now with the same year and everything. I have allready dropped the tranny got the bellhousing off and clutch out. It was all messed up. Had really bad groves in the clutch plate and on the flywheel. So while you are down there doing that make sure you check your clutch out to.

man i am having the very same prob right now i have broke at lease 3 cables in the past year i tried to find out the prob but no one know. but now i know what to do this is great. wow thanks guys this will help me out so much.
