engine swap years

hello anyone and everyone. i just purchased a 1998 chevy S-10 blazer wit ha bad engine, will an engine from a 2002 S-10 blazer work in the 1998? Thanks whoever can answer this.

should, call a bone yard, and ask them to look it up in the hollender manual

It will but you have to change all of the electronics (and sensors) from the 98. the yard will tell you that it will not work however I swaped a 2000 with a 98 that the yard said would not work. Chevrolet shows the same part number for the engines from 96-04 I think but differant part numbers for the sensors. Good luck and hope this helps.
