Engine swap question: Ka-e to de

I'm going to be getting a 90 240 coupe soon, equipped with the ka24e motor. My plan is to sell my other car in order to buy a ka24de longblock and a stage 2 turbo kit for it.

My current question:
Would the accessories under the hood from the ka24e hook up right to the ka24de longblock? I'm hoping it all pieces together nicely.

Re: Engine swap question: Ka-e to de

The ka24e to ka24de sucks...but maybe thats me. I say just rebuild the sohc and turbo it. There is plenty of aftermarket out there for it. if your serious about going ka-t i suggest you check out ka-t.org they have tons of sohc-t and dohc-t's

Re: Engine swap question: Ka-e to de

Good advice. For sohc to dohc conversion you will need the engine, tranny (maybe just bellhousing, not sure), wiring harness, and the ECU. Might as well get a nice built engine or CA, or maybe SR (RB sounds sweet too). Even though both are KAs the swap is just like it is for other engines.

yup..he pretty much hit it on the head...however i wouldnt do and engine swap, i would keep the sohc and just build and turbo it...you'll still find that you'll get great results

Re: Engine swap question: Ka-e to de

Im sure the engine swap would be the same basic thing as any other engine swap, but im kinda biased for the ka24de. I've already been using one for the past year or so, and i love them basically. Plus, when turbo'd (which is my plan) they've got killer torque.

I would just rebuild the sohc ka, but i dont like single cam. Just personal preference, basically. I'm more used to how they act and what-not.

and ive found two stage II turbo kits, though im not sure which one i should go with:

http://www.import-autoperformance.co...0sxstage2.html

http://www.turbo-kits.com/240SX_turbo_kits.html (s14 stage 2 fmax)

Thanks for the help.

Re: Engine swap question: Ka-e to de

ecu yes. wiring harness yes. tranny no, your sohc tranny will work. id say get a complete motor not a long block. everything is diffeerent. power steering, ac. etc. youll need a/c lines. even the ones in the dash..so basically a whole new ac system. and ka24de power steering lines. if you notice the sohc resevoir is on the pass. the de is on the driver..or it might be vise versa. but yea i did this swap and to me it wasnt worth it. i would def. just buy a de there still as cheap as a sohc. either get a de or just turbo the e. also get a 91 the stock camshafts have higher duration, unless your gonna upgrade the cams.

Re: Engine swap question: Ka-e to de

the 91 year is a myth, its all S13 KA24DE exhaust cams that are 248, and intake is 242. Not just the year 1991, its proven. Id say swap in a DE, and turbo that. If your going to the trouble of swapping any engine, might as well be one you like...

Re: Engine swap question: Ka-e to de

ok ok...yes the swap is easy, as long as your not using a s14 ka24de...becuase then you end up swapping the dizzy, harness, a/c and power steering lines...and some other minor stuff

Re: Engine swap question: Ka-e to de

you should be able to...you might just have to use the s13 dohc ac lines though
