Water Leak

i just noticed today i have two soaked spots on the floor of my truck.

There are two one is behind the pass seat on the floor were you would put your feet if you were sitting in the back and the other is the same spot just behind the drive seat. anyone have this or now were it is coming from. it was dry this morning when i left and i drove home from a trip 280 miles later through some rain, got home and noticed it

Re: Water Leak

Check the 3rd brake light. my 99 leaked like crazy right there and soaked the whole passenger side.

Re: Water Leak

another thing to check are the extended cab windows to make sure they are close securely.. that and check the weatherstriping around the 3rd and 4th door.. they tend to fall out of place.

Re: Water Leak

I wonder if it has anything to do with the vents under the front seats................. just a thought.

Re: Water Leak

Best way to find a water leak is get inside the truck while somebody sprays water to the outside of your vehicle. Water leaks suck, no iffs, ands, or butts, but sometimes it takes 2 to find the leak.
Could it also be coming from where the doors meet the weather stripping???

Happy Hunting......

Re: Water Leak

well, i just pulled out my back seat. only to find that the padding under the carpet is dry on both sides. i also pulled up the plastic peice that runs between the door and the carpet. seems there is some water there. so that could be the rubber. but that doesn't explain the wetness on the drivers side which is only wet on the surface. i wll try to post some pics soon

Re: Water Leak

I've done this before. Get inside the truck and get a passenger. Drive down the road and light a cig, or insence..whichever you want and run it along the edges of windows/doors etc. Wherever the smoke gets pulled out of the truck, there is a leak. I did this on my 99 and found 3 leaks.

Re: Water Leak

the only problem with that is that the smoke gets into the fabric.. then you have to clean the fabric.

i didnt take anything out of mine. And the smell didnt stick. If you smoke regularly or whatever it would. Just a little shot of febreeze and all was good. my air freshner actually counteracted the smell of the cig. I hate that smell too.
