Hub info-2002 Alero
Had the front passenger side done at the dealer and the drivers side is needing it too. Don't feel like bending over and taking it again at the dealers. I've found new in the box hub assy. searching e-bay but wanted some opinions. Is there a warranty if I buy them at Auto-zone and what's the price normally run? What's the GM part number? Wish I had a manual for the car. It's starting to be high maint. Car is a 2001...ooppps

The last time I checked AutoZone only had a 1-year warranty on theirs. I bought mine at NAPA with a lifetime warranty. I have had to replace them with the warranty and had no problems. It is a fairly easy job; I can change one in about 45 minutes now that I have done it 4 times!

I'll check out Napa since these things like to fail prematurely. Any special tools needed or can you get it off the old fashion way w/ a little caressing?

The hub nut is huge, I think it is 1-3/16" or 36 millimeter is also listed in this forum (not positive), and the torque for it is something like 180 foot pounds. You need to loosen it before you jack the car up.
The originals can come out hard and you may need a puller. Be careful not to pull the axle out with the hub assembly! My torque wrench only goes to 125 ft lbs. so I needed a formula for adding an extension, you can find this on the web also. If you do a search on this forum you should find plenty of information about this job.
