Problem with my lights not staying on but they do work when i press on the brakes???

Hello, I have a 2001 Honda Accord and one of my rear lights was not working, meaning it was not lighting up like its supposed too. After fidlling with it all of my lights went out and now they dont stay on. So now when i have my lights on i know they are sposed to be on and when i press the brake they have to light up alot right? well they do light up when i press the brakes, but they dont stay on when i get off the brake. In other words my parking lights do not work. They do light up red in the rear when i press the brake like i said but they dont stay on. neither does my instrument panel light work. could it be a fuse? i checked all the light fusses but they are ok so i dont know what the problem is. Before only the rear passengers brake light did not stay on. I would really appreciate any possible solutions please help me out.

My first guess would have been a fuse. But seeing that you said you checked the fuses I guess that rules that out. Though you might just want to double check just to be sure. It might be that the wiring is shorted out somewhere or that the switch for the lights went bad. Check the wiring and make sure that everything is copesetic and not cut, shorted, or grounded anywhere. Also check the bulbs in the back. Make sure that they didn't burn out or that they're lose and/or not fully connected in the socket.

Hope that helps. If you find out whats wrong let us know.

no luck everything seems okay but when i was didling with that one initial bad bulb it all went out and the lights work when i brake, and headlights work. Everything is okay except for all the lights that are supposed to remain on when the light knob is turned on are off even my instrumental panel or gages whatever its called.

it's the fuse... same thing happened to me... check for the fuse that lights up your corners... your guages and your rear tails... it's 15A. you can buy like 5 for $2 at the local auto store.

Just pull the old and put in the new and you're set to go.
