I was installing my indiglo gagues last night and everything was going fine until my speedometer needle started going the wrong way. Instead of staying at 0 mph, it stays at 140mph. I can not figure out what is wrong. I think the polarity is jacked up but I have no idea of how to fix it. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Re: Speedometer Needle goes wrong way! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nothing is jacked up. Here is what to do...start your car, take the speedo needle off and then when you have a steady hand, place the needle so that it points at 0. Turn your car off, and then on again, it should be at 0 still. To ensure you have the propper speed set, drive with a friend, have them drive the posted speed limit, and then look at your own speedo and see if you are off. Then you can continue to adjust your needle as needed. If this did not fix the problem then you have problems because there is no polarity, magnets, anything with our speedo's. Its a little electronic servo that relays the information from the wheels to the guage. Good luck

Re: Speedometer Needle goes wrong way! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alright, so I start my car and leave it in park. Have the gauges in with the cover off ( how do you take the needle off????????) and take the speedo needle off while it is running, then I put it back on at 0 and turn off the car, and then start it again.

Re: Speedometer Needle goes wrong way! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, are you a golfer? If yes, the best trick to get the needles off is to use a divet tool, or a fork. Jimmy it under the back of the needle and slowly work the needle off. It should pop off pretty easy. You can do this for all of your needles. It doesnt matter if you have the guage cluster installed or not, just make sure it is level, and plugged in so it works. Hopefully you know how full your gas tank was so that you can just put that needle in the right spot, no big deal. Make sure your car is at normal running temp and put your water needle where it needs to be. Start your car and put the tach needle where your normal idle is. Then, with your car in park and running put the speedo needle at 0. This should be a starting point for your speed. There are 2 ways to get accurate speed. 1. Have a friend with an accurate speedo drive next to you and have them drive the posted limit. Match their speed and then look at your speedo. If it is correct, you are done. Otherwise make a note of how much faster or slower you need to make your guage and move the needle the appropriate ammount o fix it. 2. If you know of any place that the police have put a "speed trap" thing, that shows how fast you are going, drive up to it and do the same thing. Look at how fast it says you are going, and then fix the needle to match what it says. DONT move your needle while you are driving unless you have a friend do it for you (if you do it yourself you are asking to get in an accident). Hopefully this helped.

Re: Speedometer Needle goes wrong way! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
well, it's not a real problem, other than when your car is off it falls to the plastic bottom...I didnt know that the pegs came off until after i broke off my speedo one. Im sure you can find replacement ones, prolly like a 5 cent piece. If it bugs you go look for one, other than that it's not going to be a problem. Im glad I was of help.
