04 Bonneville won't start after I fill it up with Gas

I know this sounds absolutely retarded but when I hit the gas station and fill up my 2004 Bonneville (3.8) it won't start afterwards. I have to turn it over for 10 to 15 secs before it finally starts. I have a warranty on it and have brought it to the dealership 3 times now with no help. They can't find the problem. In Fact they told me I was filling it up too much, WHAT!?!? I usually stop at the first click, what do they want me to do, look in there with a Flashlight!?!? And the lower the gas is in the tank the longer it takes to start after I fill up. It's so embarassing. WTF? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: 04 Bonneville won't start after I fill it up with Gas

I've been through the whole gas gap thing because I use to get codes all the time when I didn't tighten it all the way, and the car stops running when the gas cap is removed so it must be doing it's job.
I'm wondering if there is a problem with the system repressurizing after I fill it up.

There is a fuel pressure regulator that besides regulating the fuel pressure it also holds the pressure in the gas line so that each time you turn over the key you are not pumping gas through the whole line. Sounds like your loosing this pressure.

Thanx! Do you know how I can check it or where it might be located?

So I did a little research on the regulator and I found this, http://www.carcomplaints.com/Pontiac.../recalls.shtml
It doesn't say my year but the recall didn't come out until after my manufacture date. What do you think?

Re: 04 Bonneville won't start after I fill it up with Gas

If you have a Haynes manual cost about 12 bucks, and are cheaper then the factory shop manual, you can locate the fuel pressure regulator, and proper repair procedure. I am pretty sure that it is on the fuel rail... The pipe that delivers fuel to the injectors.
Hope this helps.

Re: 04 Bonneville won't start after I fill it up with Gas

Okay so I took the car to the dealer and they checked the fuel pressure and said it was within the normal limits. Then they told me they couldn't get it to act up, but the funny thing is, is that I came home left the car running pulled off the gas cap and the car died. So I restarted the car, with the cap still off and after the car did an idol adj. it ran fine but I also heard really loud gurgling noises in the tank. I proceeded to put the cap back on then the car sputtered, Backfired, and died. It restarted with a little hesitation and ran fine. Why can't those retards figure this out, Isn't it what I pay 40 bucks an hour for?
