Recirculation question

On my 2004 2.2 liter, everytime I hit the recirculation button the A/C also turns on. I understand that Olds wired it this way from the factory, but I plan to isolate these two controls. If I want A/C while I want recirculating air, I will turn on both.
My have several reasons why I want to do this, but here is a funny one. On the way to work last month it was chilly out and I had the windows up. I was running the heater with fresh air from the outside. Then I got behind a garbage truck and was forced to push the recirculating button. At that time the A/C came on, and with gas prices, I don't need to drain the fuel out any faster .

If anyone has the scematic to fresh air, recirculation, and A/C buttons, whould you be so kind as to send them my way?

Thank so much,
Tom

Re: Recirculation question

Yup, needless to say thats how it works. The purpose is to help dry air in the vehicle.

It would be an interesting fix. Your best bet is to get a GM Alero service manual, either hard copy or on CD which will have detailed wiring diagrams. Good luck!
