electrical problem 95 lasabre

Hi- I'm new here, and I'm hoping someone can help me.

A couple days ago, I was driving along with the radio on, and all of a sudden it (the radio) stopped, all the dummy lights came on, and then my tape player started playing a tape...(the volume came back up). I witnessed the actual volume control knob turn by itself so the volume was very faint. (I also believe the air conditioning stopped working during this brief episode) I immediately turned off a busy highway onto a side street as I figured the car was about to die.
Nothing more happend... I got home safely. (This was a 1-2 second glitch).

The next day I drove about 15 miles to work. No problems...the car is running like a champ.
I get out of the car and push the door lock button. As I am standing up and just about to close the door, all 4 locks in the car unlocked, then locked, then unlocked again! Quite eerie to watch them moving several times by themselves! I quickly sat back down in the car and started it up again to see if the engine was still working. No problems. I got out of the car again, and pushed the lock button. This time it worked just perfectly.

Has anyone encountered this type of problem, and do you think it will be quite expensive to fix? I'm not real savvy when it comes to automobiles... Thanks in advance for any help/advice you can offer me.

Sounds like a body control module, or BCM. Try searching some of the forums and see if any symptoms match up for sure.

Oh, and welcome to the forums! This is an awesome place to get information and to share what you have!

You might take a look at the battery terminals to see if you have any corrosion around where they mount to the battery. If so, clean those good with sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and water, a 50-50 mix will work well. Dip a brass brush in the solution and clean all the terminals. Dry and apply a liberal coating of dielectric grease or petroleum jelly to all sides and reinstall.

Re: electrical problem 95 lasabre

Coiuld this be a case of grounding connections next to the driver's left foot and next to the driver's door sill and maybe the passenger door sill having corrosion. One owner mentioned hitting those areas and making his car fix itself or go off. Might be a quick test to see if it's the problem. Is the carpet wet next to the driver's foot and next to the car seats bet ween the seats and the door sills?

Good morning all-

Carpet is nice and dry...I cannot duplicate what happened last week. I have not had any problems these past few days and hope it keeps running smoothly. I will take everyones' advice, and do some investigative work... Thanks!
