Chrome parts question?

Hi, to get the best possible appearance is it better to strip all your chrome parts, ect engine parts ,bumpers, ect.. and repaint with a good chrome paint like alcad or is it best just to leave the parts pre-chromed. Im building a funny car and it just seems the the pre-painted parts seem too shiny,Thanks Rick
